Freddie Mac’s 30-year average climbed from 6.65% in late August to 7.28% on October 1. On a median-priced Santa Clara County house, that adds about $625 a month. Here is how the numbers work, and what buyers and sellers can do about them this fall.
The statewide median reached $901,420 in August, while Bay Area sales fell 12.1% from July. In Santa Clara County, houses still closed at 103% of list and condos did not. Here is what the two August reports say and what they change for a seller or a buyer this fall.
